Volunteers

Lifeline has a large and lively team of volunteers. They are essential to the work and operation of our services on Leith Walk and the running of the two Charity Shops.

Would you like to join our team?

Board members: we need two new volunteer Board Members with expertise in either social care, counselling or retail management. They would attend the lively monthly meetings on Thursdays from 5.00 – 7.00 pm as well as commit to a further 2-3 hours per month in order to support and advise the Board on the effective operation of Lifeline’s services and businesses.

Baby gift packers: from time to time, we recruit volunteers to work in our Centre on Leith Walk. Every week Lifeline receives donations of baby clothes, new and used, as well as equipment such as cots. Volunteers are needed to sort these donations and make up gift packs for mothers and babies in need.

Charity Shop workers: volunteers are currently needed in our Charity shops; one on Gorgie Road and the other in Portobello. Work in the shops is busy and varied and involves receiving and sorting merchandise, displaying goods for sale and serving the public.

• From time to time we also look for specialist volunteers with particular skills and talents, such as Graphic Design or IT skills.
